Responsibilities:-

The successful candidate will work as part of a team and on all phases of the project life cycle including initial concept design, full scale development, production and in-service customer support. 
Specific areas of work will include stress analysis of the rocket motor structure which consists of a pressure vessel containing a propellant charge and related components such as the nozzle. 
The pressure vessel can take several forms ranging from a traditional monolithic metallic structure to a composite structure comprising several metallic and polymeric components adhesively bonded together. The propellant charge comprises a polymeric material with non linear visco-elastic properties which are characterised in our own laboratories for use in finite element analysis. 
Both traditional analytical and advanced finite elements stressing methods (e.g. Abaqus) are used to determine failure modes, failure loads and safety factors. Implicit within the stress analysis is the thermal analysis to determine the component temperatures. 
Analysis if often verified by structural testing. Static testing is conducted in our own structural test facility where combined pressure, bending loads are applied across a wide temperature range. Fatigue testing is conducted by external sub-contractors. 
Stress analysis of specialist tooling is also conducted covering all stages of manufacture, assembly and testing. 
All aspects of the stress analysis are documented and form a key part of the certification process. This includes the compilation of a formal structural design record and presentation of the results to our customers and government representatives. 
Opportunities will exist to take part in other aspects of rocket motor design and development for candidates who may wish to develop their careers in new directions.  Requirements

 Candidates should have a good degree in a mathematics or engineering subject, a good understanding of the basic principles of stressing and ideally some experience of solving practical stressing problems in an engineering environment.

Responsibilities:-

Candidates should have experience with the following: 
Working knowledge of Pro Engineer Wildfire 3 (Essential). 
Working knowledge of PDM Link 9 or similar. 
National drafting standards. 
The candidate will be involved in projects from initial concept stage through to the issue of production drawings. 
The design work involves pressure vessel design integrated with precision machined components in a wide variety of materials, both metallic and non metallic, natural or synthetic. 
Tooling design will include special purpose equipment used in all stages of the manufacture, assembly and testing of a solid propellant rocket motor. 
The duties would include concept meetings, 3D modelling concepts, design reviews, detail production drawings, liaison with manufacturers and on-site commissioning trials. 
The ideal candidate would also be able to manage the ProE software, setting basic rules and guidelines for users, problem solving, monitoring ProE developments and advising.  The candidates should have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment.

 The candidates will also benefit from holding an authorised clearance to work on MOD contracts.

 Salary - &#163;25 -&#163;30K (Dependant on Experience) + Pension, Life Assurance, BUPA, 25 days hols.

Person Specification

Experience
* Competent in supervisory/management role in a major Compliance function 
* Detailed knowledge of FSA rules and regulations and a thorough knowledge of regulatory development and consultative process 
* * Specialist knowledge in one or more regulated areas (including, but not limited, to FSA, Data Protection, Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime) 
* Ability to analyse and evaluate business as usual issues, and sound judgement to determine appropriate actions/solutions 
* Good understanding of regulatory structure and process, regulations and their underlying principles 
* Detailed knowledge of business processes, financial products, rules &amp; requirements for relevant business unit(s) 
* Ability to develop as an expert in one or more specialist areas 
* Self starter and willing to work on a wide variety of topics 
* Strong report writing and analytical skills 
* Proactive, communicative, pragmatic and methodical approach 
* Takes responsibility for ownership for issues
